Cheltenham, UK (January 4, 2023) – Julien Simon-Chautemps, CEO and Founder of JSC Engineering Ltd, has announced the expansion of the motorsport consultancy service he launched in 2022 that provides Simon-Chautemps’ extensive expertise and networking in race engineering to motorsports and automotive clients worldwide. Following huge growth in the company’s first year, Simon-Chautemps is expanding JSC Engineering’s activities for 2023. In addition to Simon-Chautemps’ continuing work with French Formula 1 broadcaster Canal+ as on-air technical expert, acting as technical director for Sainteloc Racing for their F4 and F3R single seater activities, and technical collaboration with Paceteq for their cutting-edge data analysis software, Simon-Chautemps has also launched a new branch of JSC7 Engineering, focused on sourcing and head-hunting highly skilled motorsport individuals, including heads of department & senior engineers.

With an aerospace and aeronautical engineering degree from IPSA in Paris, Simon-Chautemps’ motorsport career began in 1999 working in the French Rally Championship and Formula Renault 2000, Spanish F3 and the Spanish GT Championships, and in the ALMS series in the USA and Australian V8 Supercar with SBR working as consultant for Optimum G. In 2003 he moved to Prema Racing, working in the F3 Euroseries and FR 2.0 until 2007 when he joined Trident Racing as a Performance Engineer in GP2 (now F2). In late 2007 he moved up to Formula 1 with Toyota as a race team Performance Engineer for Jarno Trulli, a role he held until 2009 when the team disbanded. He moved to Caterham F1 Team for one year, then to Lotus F1 Team in 2011 where he worked as Performance Engineer with Pastor Maldonado, Vitaly Petrov and Kimi Raikkonen, before stepping up to Race Engineer for Romain Grosjean and Jolyon Palmer. In 2017 he moved to Sauber F1 Team as Senior Race Engineer, first working with Marcus Ericsson, and then as Senior Race Engineer with Kimi Raikkonen until the Finnish driver’s retirement from the sport in 2021. In 2022, Simon-Chautemps launched JSC7 Engineering ltd, bringing Julien’s two decades of motorsport experience to clients worldwide.

Simon-Chautemps, most recently Kimi Raikkonen's Formula 1 race engineer, is a race and performance engineering specialist with over 20 years of experience in Formula 1, F2, F3, Formula Renault 2.0 and multiple other motorsport series. Simon-Chautemps has recently launched JSC7 Engineering ltd, a motorsport consultancy service that provides Julien's extensive expertise to clients wishing to engage specialist race engineering advice to optimize the on-track performance of the race driver and car package.
JSC7 Engineering's first client is Canal+, the French F1 broadcaster. Julien will be lending his in-depth knowledge of all technical aspects of Formula 1 on Canal+’s broadcasts, a critical role that will help educate F1 viewers, and give them expert insights into technical aspects of the world's premier motorsport series.
